Ceylinco Homes only property developer to be awarded Superbrand status

Mrs. Padmini Karunanayake – Deputy Chairperson / CEO – Ceylinco Homes Group receiving the “Superbrand” award from Mr. Eardley Perera – Chairman Superbrand Council

Ceylinco Homes International was the only property developer to be awarded the Superbrand status at a glittering function held in Colombo recently. Standing tall amongst a distinguished gathering of Sri Lanka’s corporate sector, Ceylinco Homes was felicitated for its pioneering effort in benchmarking real estate development in the country along international standards.

Ceylinco Homes was incorporated in 1993 as a result of Deshamanya Dr. Lalith Kotelawala’s vision to introduce Sri Lanka to international standards in urban housing.

Since then, Deshamanya Dr. Lalith Kotelawala’s dream to reach the pinnacle in the real estate sector was turned into reality under the able guidance of Padmini Karunanayake, the Chief Executive Director of Ceylinco Homes International. Supported by a team of experts led by Deputy Chief Executive Director, Chyshantha Jayawardhana, the company has been successful in blazing a formidable track record in the housing sector.

Dedicated to providing world class uncompromising standards of excellence in every project it undertook, Ceylinco Homes ensured that every home it offered the owners was nothing short of perfection itself. As a member of Ceylinco Consolidated, one of the largest diversified conglomerates in the country, Ceylinco Homes instantly commanded complete trust.

But the team at Ceylinco Homes International was determined to exceed buyers’ expectations by not only providing high quality homes, but also by devising housing concepts, once again pioneering a new trend in the country.

Projects such as Lotus Grove, The Villa, Eden Gardens paved the way for suburban luxury homes within a gated community, supremely self sufficient and replete with all recreational and other facilities one could possibly desire and more. The nurturing hand of nature cradles all these properties, as the company ensured that the environs provided the serenity and comfort of eco friendliness. These homes have become preferred neighbourhoods in the country today for their unmatched convenience and elegance.

The company turned its attention to developing luxury condominiums and apartments at strategic locations in the heart of the city. While it was a bold move to target the upper end of the market, once completed, these plush dreamy apartments actually created a demand for such luxury homes. In a short time, Barnes Place Residencies was followed by the even more exclusive Hyde Park Residencies. No two developments of Ceylinco Homes are ever alike and this has spurred the company to possess an impressive portfolio of clients who appreciate the rapid appreciation in the value of these properties. Most of the Ceylinco Homes properties are snapped up through peer to peer endorsement and it boasts a strong rapport with its clients.

Forging ahead with its success thus far in the real estate sector, Ceylino Homes embarked on Ceylinco Celestial Residencies, which will also bring in the celebrated international hotel chain, the Hyatt, into the country. The Hyatt Regency and Ceylinco Celestial Residencies will rise in royal spendour at a prime location in the city, seemingly towering over both land and sea, with un parallel view of the Indian Ocean.

The Ceylinco Homes Brand has not just endured, but it has gone from strength to strength with every project and its recognition as a Superbrand further reinforces its commitment and dedication to scale newer heights. Apart from its pioneering status, the company is deeply involved in laudable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects amongst the less privileged in rural areas while ensuring it operates as a responsible corporate citizen employing total transparency at every stage.

Ceylinco Homes International is already in the process of drawing up blueprints for newer concepts in luxury housing for a market watching with bated breath for its latest offering. As a pioneer in the luxury property development arena, the company’s promises to lead Sri Lanka into the 21 st century in grand style

COLOMBO: Ceylinco Homes International Ltd., hosted a grand soiree to introduce its stellar project - The Hyatt Regency in Colombo & Ceylinco Celestial Residencies - to a large gathering of the city’s elite recently. The collaboration with the internationally reputed Hyatt chain of hotels is the realisation of Ceylinco Chairman Deshamanya Lalith Kotelawela’s heartfelt dream of giving the city and the country a symbol of prosperity and international recognition. Once complete, the Hyatt Regency in Colombo will shine like a beacon of hope and determination for a nation looking forward to a peaceful and brighter future.

The construction of the Hyatt Regency in Colombo marks a milestone in Sri Lanka and reflects the country’s vibrant economy and growing prominence in the region. Recently, at an exclusive star-studded function held at the Galle Face Hotel, Ceylinco hosted its friends and partners from Hyatt. Mr. Willi B. Martin, Area Vice President and General Manager, Grand Hyatt Singapore, who was present at the function, delivered an encouraging speech in which he welcomed the opportunity to be working with Ceylinco and stressed that Hyatt was impressed by the quality and expertise Ceylinco brings to this project.

Gracious hosts for the evening were Deshamanya Lalith Kotelawela, Chairman of the Ceylinco Group, and Mrs. Sicille Kotelawela. Deshamanya Lalith Kotelawela made a moving speech about Hyatt Regency in Colombo being the culmination of a lifelong desire and declared that this project was very close to his heart. His greatest desire, he said, was that it should deliver international recognition - being the only exclusive hotel of this kind in Sri Lanka - and be deeply cherished by the Sri Lanka and its people.

The event was graced by the crème de la crème of Colombo’s society comprising political leaders, government and BOI officials, corporate leaders and decision makers, and luminaries from higher echelons who were hosted to exotic cocktails and haute cuisine amidst a superbly embellished ballroom. Picture perfect table settings and other beautiful decorations reflected the close attention to detail and the care that was taken by Ceylinco to ensure that the entire evening matched the high standards Hyatt has set globally. The superbly appointed venue extended a warm welcome to the high ranking Hyatt officials and other honoured guests.

The 250-room Hyatt Regency will offer guests all the creature comforts of a 7-star hotel complete with the facility of a truly world class hotel that Hyatt properties worldwide represent.
The Ceylinco Celestial Residencies will also glitter in the skies as a star in the realm of real estate development as it shares center stage with Hyatt Regency on the skyline. Located on the seaside at Galle Road, in Kollupitiya, on 262 perches of land, the view of the Indian Ocean on the one side and Colombo’s breathtaking skyline on the other is unparalleled. There is no doubt about the fact that this is probably the most enviable location in Colombo.

The towering 43-floor structure also houses Ceylinco Celestial Residencies, residents of which can access Hyatt Regency offerings such as the infinity pool, the world-class spa, the international standard gymnasium and its eclectic restaurants. Concierge services will also be extended to Ceylinco Celestial Residencies. The project is scheduled for completion by end 2009.

The Ceylinco Celestial Residencies feature a mix of one/four bedroom apartments and penthouses. The presence of Hyatt expertise in this joint project will ensure that these residential apartments will be the ultimate expression of exclusivity for the privileged.

The Ceylinco Group has pioneered unique housing concepts in its erstwhile projects such as Lotus Grove, Hyde Park and Barnes Place Residencies, The Villa, Eden Gardens and Cinnamon County Residencies in and around Colombo, which have received unsurpassed success - raising the bar and benchmarking quality and housing concepts with every project.

The privileged owners of Ceylinco Celestial Residencies can rest contentedly, secure in the knowledge that they have invested wisely in a one-of-a-kind project that will add value and provide a lifetime of security and satisfaction.

Main Contractor appointed for Ceylinco Celestial Residencies and Hyatt Regency Colombo

Colombo 19th January 2006. Ceylinco Homes International (Lotus Tower) Ltd today announced the appointment of M/s Maga Engineering Pvt Ltd as the main contractor to construct Ceylinco Celestial Residencies and the Hyatt Regency Colombo at No. 116, Galle Road in Colombo 03, thus reaching yet another milestone in this landmark project.

Estimated at approximately Rs. 10 billion, this 45 floor investment will be a mixed development and will be the tallest building in Sri Lanka, once completed. The developer is Ceylinco Homes International (Lotus Tower) Ltd while the owning company of Hyatt Regency Colombo is Ceylinco Leisure Properties Ltd.

M/s Maga Engineering Pvt Ltd has been responsible for the construction of some prestigious developments such as the Apollo Hospital in Colombo and Ceylinco’s flagship apartment development, the much talked about “Barnes Place Residencies”.

The government’s foresight to have more infrastructure development projects in partnership with the private sector, resulted in Ceylinco successfully bidding for this prime property through the Urban Development Authority (UDA). The bid made by Ceylinco Homes International (Lotus Tower) Ltd, was selected purely on its technical and financial merits among other bids that were made by both local and foreign companies.

The landmark venture will primarily consist of Ceylinco Celestial Residencies, a luxury apartment development with 176 one to four bed roomed units and a limited number of penthouses. “Everyone wants to be a part of this historic development. We have received a very positive response with more than 60% of the apartments already reserved”, Deputy Chairperson of the Ceylinco Homes Group, Mrs. Padmini Karunanayake, said.

The Hyatt Regency Colombo, a 250 roomed star class hotel will complement the development where residents will benefit from Hyatt’s full range of services. Among these are exceptional meeting and fitness facilities, a range of innovative theme and multi-cuisine restaurants, a host of entertainment options, and most importantly, an efficient service that will meet every whim and fancy of the discerning clientele. All restaurants and lobbies will be on the top floors, incorporated into the ‘sky lobby’ concept with fantastic views of the city and the ocean. The hotel will essentially be a fine combination of Sri Lankan hospitality and the global Hyatt flavour.

All approvals including those from the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC), the Coast Conservation Department (CCD), the Ministry of Defence (MOD) etc, have been obtained. The relevant authorities concerned have been very co-operative right throughout while scrutinizing documents and matters related to approvals etc. The building, once taken shape, will indeed be the pride of the nation as most of the work associated with the designing, construction and allied services are being carried out by Sri Lankan companies.

“This will be a monument for Sri Lanka. Our intention is to encourage and develop local talent and thereby give an opportunity to many Sri Lankans to be associated with this project, as they have the knowledge, expertise and all it takes to match world class construction. This will also stimulate the economy, as well as generate direct and indirect employment opportunities”, Deshamanya Dr. Lalith Kotelawala said.

To design this building, Ceylinco Homes International (Lotus Tower) Ltd invited Design Consortium Ltd which has been responsible for many landmark buildings in the city of Colombo. M/s Nawaloka Construction Company Ltd which was awarded the piling contract is using new piling technology and has mobilised machinery in keeping with international piling requirements and standards. Progress is well on schedule.

This entire project has been inspired by the vision of the Chairman of Ceylinco Consolidated, Deshamanya Dr. Lalith Kotelawala to build the tallest building in Sri Lanka. He has, in turn, drawn inspiration from his father, the late Senator Justin Kotelawala, who built ‘Ceylinco House’, Sri Lanka’s tallest building during that time. Since then the Ceylinco Group has spearheaded the construction of several ambitious projects across the country. Ceylinco Celestial Residencies and the Hyatt Regency Colombo are considered the ‘jewel in the crown’ and will dramatically rise above Colombo’s changing skyline. This landmark mixed development project will undoubtedly ensure that Sri Lanka’s tourism and hospitality sectors get a vital image boost throughout the world.
